Hesperianpuisto, Helsinki

Map location pin icon

Hesperianpuisto stretches quietly through central Helsinki—a peaceful, green park framed by trees, water, and city life. Despite its urban setting, this area is rich with bird activity throughout the year. From familiar city birds to elegant waterfowl, curious water birds, and the occasional shorebird, the park offers plenty to observe in a compact space. During the breeding season, this is an especially good spot to watch for nesting activity and glimpses of newly hatched chicks.

The walking route is short, flat, and fully accessible—ideal for families, those with strollers or mobility aids, or anyone looking for an easy-going nature break. The walk is guided by an experienced birdwatcher, who will help spot birds, point out key details, and share tips for identifying different species. Along the way, interesting facts and quiet moments of observation help bring the experience to life.

Binoculars and a scope are provided for shared use. A warm drink will be offered during the walk, and each participant receives a signature snack bag before setting out.
